Hue traditional craft festival features food, bonsai

The Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2011 will be held from April 30 – May 3 this year.

According to Nguyen Dang Thanh, Vice Chairman of Hue People’sCommittee, this year’s festival with the theme “Bep Viet trong vuon Hue”(Vietnamese Kitchen in a Hue Garden) will introduce Hue food andornamental gardening, which bear the traditional and culturalcharacteristics and style of the ancient royal capital.

It also aims to honour artisans, who conserve and develop Hue traditional crafts.

The festival will also feature the northern and southern foodstogether with ornamental plants from 20 localities across the country.

In addition, performances of Vietnamesetraditional singings such as Cai Luong, Ca Tru, Ca Hue as well as artsdisplays, folk games will also be organised during the festival./.

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

More than 70,000 women from across the capital city of Hanoi dressed up in Ao dai (traditional long dress) and participated in a folk dance ensemble on October 20 to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi and the 94th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union.

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
