Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 will get underway for the first time at Kien Trung Palace, Hue Imperial Citadel (the central province of Thua Thien-Hue) from June 7-12, featuring spectacular and impressive performances by both domestic and foreign art troupes.
New Art Experiences
Themed "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development”, the event will showcase the unique, sophisticated, and diverse aspects of traditional and contemporary arts from Vietnam and around the world. Large-scale, unique activities will breathe life into the entire city of Hue. The opening and closing ceremonies, along with a highly anticipated Trinh Cong Son music show, will all be centred around the iconic Kien Trung Palace, the most magnificent palace in the Hue Imperial Citadel.
A representative of the organising board said the essence of the Hue ancient capital will shine through productions that combine Laser, LED Matrix, Hologram, and 3D Mapping projections on a semi-realistic art stage at Kien Trung Palace.
The stage is designed on an area of over 1,500sq.m. Using 3D Mapping technology, it will transform Kien Trung Palace into a dazzling spectacle, showcasing the unique beauty of its architecture and artistry. The event promises to bring novel experiences in culture, history, and art to the public.
Audiences can expect a meticulously produced Trinh Cong Son music show, a unique reinterpretation of the beloved Vietnamese composer's works by a team from Ho Chi Minh City. The closing night promises a fresh perspective as well, with the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre taking the reins.
Stepping beyond the main stage, the festival offers a vibrant tapestry of experiences for attendees. A lively street festival will pulsate with energy, while a captivating light festival will illuminate the iconic Thai Binh Pavilion and Thieu Phuong Garden within the Hue Imperial Citadel. A lantern festival will add a touch of magic to the nighttime ambience, while dedicated culinary showcases will tantalize taste buds with Hue's renowned cuisine, featuring a celebration of local cakes and vegetarian specialties. Art enthusiasts can delve into exhibitions showcasing captivating photographs and artifacts curated by collectors from across the country.
A Heritage and World Art Rendezvous
The festival transcends mere entertainment, aiming to solidify Thua Thien-Hue province's unique cultural identity and contribute to its broader development goals. "The Hue Festival has become a national and international cultural event, promoting Hue as a beautiful, safe, and friendly destination," said Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee and head of the Hue Festival 2024 Organising Committee. He further emphasised the festival's role in realising the Politburo's Resolution on building and developing Thua Thien-Hue province, with a vision towards 2045. This vision centres around transforming Thua Thien-Hue into a centrally-run city that leverages its heritage values and cultural identity, characterised by a blend of rich culture, historical preservation, ecological awareness, stunning landscapes, and a commitment to environmental friendliness and smart city features.
Building upon its established brand value, the Hue Festival has secured its place as a pivotal national and international cultural and artistic event. It serves as a platform to showcase the cultural essence of the region and promote Hue as a beautiful, safe, and welcoming destination for visitors worldwide.
This year marks a significant milestone, with the Hue Festival expanding into a year-long celebration of the region's rich heritage, kicking off with the Ban Soc Ceremony on January 1 and concluding with a festive countdown on December 31. The 2024 Hue International Arts Festival Week, however, promises to be a global exchange unlike any other.
