Host of activities await visitors at Hue Festival 2020

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) - The main activities within the 11th Hue Festival, which will be held from August 28 to September 2, were announcedby the festival’s organising board on June 12.

An artisticprogramme will kick-start the festival at 8pm on August 28 at Ngo Mon Square,honouring the traditional and contemporary cultural values of the centralprovince of Thua Thien-Hue and other regions of Vietnam.

A street carnivalwill be held every day from 4.30pm from August 29 to September 2 honouring thenational dresses of ASEAN countries through costume performances and dances.

A cuisine festivalwill also be held on those days at Thuong Bac Park, serving famous localdishes.

A music programmefeaturing famous songs from late, great musician Trinh Cong Son will be held at8pm on August 30.

Another artsprogramme will take place at 8pm on August 31, featuring the Huong (Perfume)River, which runs through Hue, while leading DJs in Vietnam and the region willkeep electronic music lovers entertained on the evening on September 1.

The closingceremony will be at 8pm on September 2, together with an “ao dai” performance.

The biennialfestival was initially slated for April 1-6 but was postponed due to COVID-19.

The Hue Festival2018 attracted nearly 1,400 artists and professional performers, including 388from 24 international art troupes and nearly 1,000 from Vietnam.

Thousands ofamateur artists also took part at the festival, which welcomed more than 1.2million visitors./.

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

More than 70,000 women from across the capital city of Hanoi dressed up in Ao dai (traditional long dress) and participated in a folk dance ensemble on October 20 to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi and the 94th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union.

The Vietnam Jungle Marathon (VJM) returns for its seventh edition, welcoming around 1,500 runners from almost 40 nations to the stunning trails of Pu Luong Nature Reserve in Thanh Hoa province on October 19, featuring picturesque 10km to 70km routes.

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
