“Hello Canada” contest to mark diplomatic anniversary

A contest on Canada was held on November 1 in Hanoi to mark the 40th anniversary of the Vietnam-Canada diplomatic ties.

The“Hello Canada ” contest creates an opportunity for Vietnameseyoungsters to learn more about Canada ’s history, economics, politics,culture, and society, as well as its bilateral ties with Vietnam ,said Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association NguyenThiet Son.

Son joined Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam DavidJoseph Devine and Vice Director of the Hanoi University of SocialSciences and Humanities (USSH) Pham Quang Minh in saying they hope thecontest will help develop the all-round cooperation between the twocountries.

The contest includes two parts, focusing onCanada ’s geography, history, economics, politics, society, andexpatriate Vietnamese community, as well as the role of people-to-peoplediplomacy in bilateral ties.

The Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam won the first prize, followed by the USSH and the Hanoi University.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

More than 70,000 women from across the capital city of Hanoi dressed up in Ao dai (traditional long dress) and participated in a folk dance ensemble on October 20 to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi and the 94th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union.

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
