TheMusic One opera house, which is an upgraded version of the old VOH hall, willfeature 350 seats with a brand-new lighting and music system.
Thelobby, which has been redecorated in a cozy, elegant style, will be used formusical exhibitions.
Theopera house will stage musicals, plays, and performances of don ca taitu (southern folk music) and cai luong (reformedopera), Nguyen Trong Tri, deputy director of VOH, said.
“Theplan to open the opera house has been on the table for many years, with the aimof building a standard music space where artists can perform and bring thelight of theatre and VOH to the public, so they can better appreciate artisticvalues,” he added.
MusicianDuc Thinh, director of Music One, said that, apart from serving traditionalmusical performances, the opera house would hold music festivals, singingcompetitions and other music programmes that engage listeners via radio andsocial media.
VOHwill hold a special musical night to celebrate the launch of Music One operahouse on July 15.
In1997, the VOH radio station launched a radio programme called Lan songxanh (Blue Wave) which promoted Vietnamese pop music.
Fortwo decades, the programme has introduced many singers and songwriters who havegained a large following among the public, especially young people.-VNA
