HCMCity (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City authorities have launched a plan worth35 billion VND (1.54 million USD) to provide vocational training to 12,000rural workers in 2017.
Coursesunder three months will be provided to 11,300 rural workers, disabled and poorpeople. Of which, about 8,000 people will be trained in non-agricultural sectors.Meanwhile, 700 labourers will attend college and vocational schools.
Thecity aims to have more than 80 percent of trainees employed after trainings. Itwill support the procurement of equipment for four public vocational trainingfacilities in Binh Chanh, Can Gio, Cu Chi and Hoc Mon districts.
LeThanh Liem, Vice Standing Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee said theplan aims to enhance vocational training in the city and generate jobs forrural labourers, especially poor and near poor households, disabled and ethnicminority people.
Thecity will also review rural workers’ demand for vocational training in linewith its agriculture restructuring and economic transition, he added.
HCMCity has recently focused on sustainable and hi-tech urban agriculture incombination with tourism development, along with the supporting industry.-VNA
