HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh Cityis ready to work with Samsung in boosting local enterprises’ capacity insupport industry, helping them qualify for the Korean group’s global supplychain, said Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.
He made the remark while receiving SamsungVietnam General Director Shim Won Hwan on June 29.
The official commended the company’ssignificant contributions to Vietnam’s export value.

He said the company has responded well toVietnamese leaders’ request on increasing the localization rate in itsproducts, thus creating opportunities for local small- and medium-sized firmsto produce spare parts and components for Samsung.

Nhan asked Samsung Vietnam to continueworking with Vietnamese universities and public agencies in the implementationof various education and construction projects.
On behalf of his company’s executive board,Shim Won Hwan thanked the Vietnamese Government for its assistance, whichhelped Samsung Vietnam grow substantially and contribute to Vietnam – Republicof Korea ties.
The director underscored the firm’sintention to expand investment in HCM City and help local enterprises improvemanagement skills and technical competency.
He said Samsung Vietnam wants to see morelocal companies join its supply chain, which will lead to higher localization ratein the company’s products.
Shim Won Hwan pledged to connect withVietnamese students by holding tours for students to visit Samsung’s factoriesand research centres, while working to boost capacity of Vietnamese workers atSamsung Vietnam.-VNA
