HCM City marks Russian October Revolution’s 100th anniversary

The Vietnam-Russia relationship has been thriving thanks to joint efforts made by leaders and people of both countries, Hoang Minh Nhan, President of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, said at a ceremony in the city on November 3 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (November 7).

HCM City (VNA) – The Vietnam-Russia relationship has been thriving thanks tojoint efforts made by leaders and people of both countries, Hoang Minh Nhan,President of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City,said at a ceremony in the city on November 3 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (November 7).

Nhanrecalled the historical significance of the Russia October Revolution, one ofthe events with greatest influence in the 20th century, which broughtin a new ideology of the humankind.

The event isof special significance to Vietnam, he said, adding that it greatly influencedthe country’s development and laid a foundation for the sound traditionalfriendship between the two countries.

He affirmedthe association’s commitments to preserving and developing the traditional andfine relations between Vietnam and Russia.

Meanwhile,Le Thanh Sang, Director of the Academy of Social Sciences of the SouthernRegion, said that success of the Russian October Revolution led by Vladimir I.Lenin opened up a new era in the humankind, an era of freedom.

Therevolution left valuable lessons to the Communist Party of Vietnam on organisingrevolution, building armed forces and the art of grasping opportunities andposition of revolution, he said.

DimitriIgorevich Alexayev, Third Secretary of the Russian General Consulate in Ho ChiMinh City, appreciated the efforts of agencies and departments of Ho Chi MinhCity as well as the HCM City Union of Friendship Organisations to preserve thetraditional friendship and cooperation between Russia and Vietnam.

Vietnam hasbeen a trustworthy and long-lasting friend of Russia, he said, adding that thebilateral comprehensive strategic partnership has been reinforced in all fieldsfrom politics, security-defence to economy, trade, science-technology, culture,education and tourism.

Heexpressed belief that with concerted efforts, the two nations will promoteclose ties they have nurtured over the past years, opening up new prospects ofcollaboration for the benefits of the Russian and Vietnamese people andinterests of the world.-VNA
