Hanoi (VNA) – Russia’s Ambassador toVietnam Konstantin Vnukov has highlighted Russia’s October Revolution as themost important event in the 20th century, strongly impacting the world.
Thanks to the revolution in 1917, Russia haspushed ahead with reconstruction to become a strong industrial country, the diplomattold Vietnam News Agency.
The event promoted revolutionary movements inAsia, including Vietnam, to end the colonial system in the 1960s, he said.
He also mentioned cooperation prospects betweenVietnam and Russia today, adding that the two countries have achieved thehighest level in bilateral relations by establishing a comprehensive strategicpartnership.
The most important thing at the present isdeveloping cooperation across the board, he said.
Vietnamese and Russian leaders also set anambitious goal of doubling two-way trade by 2020, he said, describing this as atough but achievable task due to the free trade agreement between Vietnam andthe Eurasian Economic Union which took effect more than a year ago.
The two countries should nurture their traditionalfriendship among young generations to build a basis for strong future ties, henoted.-VNA
