– President Tran Dai Quang has hailed the significanceof Russia’s October Revolution, calling it an invaluable asset that illuminatedthe path for the Vietnamese Revolution.

In an article published by Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution (November 7, 1917-2017), President Quang wrotethat the revolution gave birth to the Soviet Union, the world’s firstworkers-farmers state, and opened up a new era of international communist andworker movements as well as national liberation worldwide.

The October Revolution had a significant role in the collapse of theimperialist colony system and opened a new chapter of national independence anda transitional period toward socialism, he wrote.

Inspired by the October Revolution, the Communist Party of Vietnam led itspeople to victory, including the August Revolution 1945, Dien Bien Phu victoryin 1954 and the Spring victory in 1975, President Quang stressed.

Despite complicated global developments, the October Revolution has served as asymbol for the strength of socialism. The lessons and experience of therevolution are still important to Vietnam’s reforms as well as nationalconstruction and protection, he concluded. -VNA
