A group of young people go to every locality nationwide to give books and receive plastic garbage, thus encouraging children to develop the sense of environmental protection and reading enjoyment at the same time. They call themselves Green and Book Ambassadors.

The Green and Book Ambassadors was initiated by a group of Vietnamese students in 2012, aiming to inspire others to develop a green live-style and reading habits. Over the past years, the young volunteers have travelled from place to place, exchange books for plastic trash and collect trash themselves, and teach children how to make eco-bricks with bottles and plastic bags.

They group builds small wooden book houses, give books and gifts to needy children in remote villages and schools. Sometimes, they host art workshops, gathering children and teach them draw and make crafts, featuring environmental protection. More young volunteers want to join them, including foreigners.

The Green and Book Ambassadors has extended its coverage and activities nationwide and abroad. They hope to be able to make small contribution to reducing plastic waste and make the earth a more beautiful place to live.-VNA
