Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s Asian ParaGames 2018 Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) is training some 7,500 volunteers inhow to communicating and interacting with athletes and officials of the AsianPara Games scheduled for October.
The committee’s deputy director of legal andhuman resources Rezza Dwi Brammadita said the training was different from thosefor Asian Games, as it would emphasize on the attitude and skills to interactwith the disabled.
Accordingto Brammadita, during the four-day training, from September 16-19, thevolunteers were divided into 40 classes, each with 30-50 participants.
The training for the Asian Para Games volunteershas also involved dozens of trainers from various communities of disabledpersons in Indonesia.
As many as 2,800 athletes from 41 countries andregions will compete in 18 sports at the Asian Para Games 2018 in Indonesia,according to the country’s Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Ticketswill be provided free of charge to fans with disabilities.
The event was first held in Guangzhouin 2010 and the latest edition was organised in 2014 in the Republic of Korea.
Vietnameseathletes will compete in seven sports at the 2018 Asian Para Games, namelyathletics, swimming, power-lifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, andjudo.
Prominent athletes include Paralympic goldmedallist power-lifter Le Van Cong and javelin thrower Cao Ngoc Hung.
At the previous Asian Para Games in 2014, Vietnam wonnine gold, seven silver, and 13 bronze medals, finishing tenth in the overallmedal tally.-VNA
