Hanoi to host Thai Festival 2018 at weekend

Muay Thai (Thai boxing), traditional dances, beautiful destinations and Thai street food will all be featured in the Thai Festival 2018 to be held in Hanoi on September 15 and 16.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - MuayThai (Thai boxing), traditional dances, beautiful destinations andThai street food will all be featured in the Thai Festival 2018 to be held in Hanoion September 15 and 16.

The highlights will include performances bytraditional art troupes from Chiang Mai and a Thai cooking demonstration byexpert chefs.

“The purpose of this festival is to strengthenThailand-Vietnam bilateral relations, especially in the area of culture andtourism at a people-to-people level,” said Charge d’affaires at the ThaiEmbassy Wanthanee Viputwongsakul.

“The embassy would like to introduce everyaspect of Thailand to our Vietnamese friends through our delectable cuisine,art performances, muay Thai, and our finest products.

"Many Thai dishes which are popular in Vietnamsuch as mango sticky rice and pad thai will be presented byThai chefs. So Vietnamese people will have a chance to enjoy the authentictaste."

The event is set to attract 50 businesses basedin the north-eastern region of Thailand, all companies and importers operatingin Vietnam and travel agents. They will present their products and look forchances to find partners.

The proceeds from the event will be donated tocharity organisations in Vietnam.

Last year over 500 million VND (21,800 USD) wasdonated to the National Fund for Vietnamese Children and Hanoi Association forVictims of Agent Orange.

The two-day event will take place from 10am to7pm at Ly Thai To Monument area by Hoan Kiem Lake and entry is free.

The Thai embassy, Thai private companies and theThai community in Vietnam will jointly organise the festival. Leaders ofUbonratchathani Province are set to attend the event.-VNS/VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day
