Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese athletes secured two more gold medals atthe Singapore Open Track & Field Championships on April 28.
Southeast Asian champion Nguyen Thi Huyenwon in the women’s 400m event with a time of 53.89sec.
Joy Kuan of the hosts came second in 1min 0.97sec. Thirdplace went to Oh Shi Ning Charl of Singapore’s Nanyang Polytechnic crew who ran1:01.99.
It was Huyen’s second gold at thetournament, in its 79th edition at the Singapore Sports Hub.
On April 27, she won and set atournament record in the 400m hurdle event.
Huyen is the top Vietnamese runnerin these two categories. She competed at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games lastAugust.
Her teammate also tastedvictory.
She won the women’s triple jumpevent with a result of 13.27m.
She jumped much longer thansecond-placed athlete Wendy Enn of Singapore, who set a national record with12.05m.
This was Men’s first appearance atthe Singapore Open. Men also won gold at the Asian Beach Games last Septemberin Da Nang, jumping 13.11m. She is also the national defending champion.
Vietnam ended the two-day tournamentwith five gold medals. -VNA
