Fruit, vegetable imports hit 655 million USD in first half

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam spent almost 655 million USD on importing fruits andvegetables in the first half of this year, representing a year-on-year increaseof 87 percent.

Ofthe number, import value of fruits was 507 million USD, according to theVietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association.

Thailandwas Vietnam’s largest fruit supplier, making up 57.7 percent of the marketshare, followed by India, the Republic of Korea and China.  

TheMinistry of Agriculture and Rural Development revealed that between January andJune, Vietnam imported more than 376 million USD worth of fruits fromThailand.-VNA
