HCM City (VNA) – A Frenchmusic festival took place in Ho Chi Minh City on June 21 as part of activitiesto commemorate the 45th founding anniversary of Vietnam-France diplomatic ties (April12, 1973).
The festival was held by the HCM CityUnion of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) and the Vietnam-France FriendshipAssociation’s chapter in the city (HVFFA). It was attended by representativesfrom HUFO and the French Consulate General in HCM city, members of the HVFFA aswell as students of the city.
The annual festival started in Francein 1982, initiated by then French Minister of Culture Jake Lang.
Speaking at the event, HVFFAPresident Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung said the French music festival has been held inmore than 120 countries worldwide, including Vietnam, as the country is amember of the International Organisation of the Francophonie.
It is among cultural exchangeactivities aiming to deepen ties between the people of the two nations, sheadded.
The festival featured performances invarious genres, including rock, pop, rap, jazz and classical music.-VNA
