Football: Vietnam in No 3 seed group of ASIAD

The Vietnam Olympic football team are in the No 3 seed group to prepare for the draw of the upcoming Asian Games (ASIAD), the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has announced.

- The Vietnam Olympicfootball team are in the No 3 seed group to prepare for the draw of theupcoming Asian Games (ASIAD), the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has announced.

Joining Vietnam in the No 3 group are Malaysia, Laos,Jordan, Yemen, Bangladesh, the Philippines and Hong Kong.

The No 1 seeded group consists of Indonesia, Japan, Syria, the Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq.

The No 2 seed group includes China, the Democratic People's Republic ofKorea (DPRK), Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, the United ArabEmirates, Kyrgyzstan and Thailand.

Nepal, India, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Tajikistan,Singapore, Myanmar and Palestine are in group four.

As planned, Vietnam will convene on July 22 to prepare forthe event, which will be held in Indonesia from August 18 to September 2.

The team will train at the PVF Centre in Hanoi and playthree friendly matches to hone their skills.

They will meet Barcelona B, U23 Oman and U23 Uzbekistan inearly August at My Dinh National Stadium.

Thirty-two men’s football teams have registered to competein the upcoming Asian event.

According to Chairman of the Indonesia Asian GamesOrganising Committee, Erick Thohir, the 2018 event has attracted the largestnumber of football teams in the history of the Asian Games.

The teams will be divided into eight groups, with the twobest teams from each group progressing to the knockout round.-VNS/VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
