Tokyo (VNA) – A draw fora football tournament of the Vietnamese people residing in Japan’s Kanto regionin 2021 (FAVIJA Kanto Cup) was held in Tokyo on November 7.
It is the largest culture-sport eventof the Vietnamese community in Japan at large and Kanto in particular thisyear, as the COVID-19 situations in the region improved within the past month.
The annual tournament is organised by the football association ofVietnamese people in Japan (FAVIJA) under the auspices of the Embassy ofVietnam in Japan.
It will see the participation of 80teams divided in 16 groups. Each team will have seven players.
Do Hai Khoi, Director of FONEHOUSE, asponsor of the tourney, said the event offers a chance for firms tomeet and share experience so as to surmount difficulties.
In addition, the event will promotethe images of Vietnamese people to Japanese friends, thereby fostering the twocountries’ cultural exchanges.
FAVIJA President Do Quang Ba, who isalso head of the organising board, said safety for the event is a top priority amid COVID-19risks. All players must be fully vaccinated, with the second shot beinginjected at least 14 days before the tourney, or test negative for COVID-19.
The preliminary will begin on November 21 and the final round andclosing ceremony are slated for December 19 in Saitama prefecture./.
