Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Moonlight Saigon, the firstfilm project between Vietnam and Malaysia, was introduced at a press conferencein Kuala Lumpur on July 31.
The 26-episode TV series was produced by Malaysian filmcompany Produksi Seni 2020 and its Vietnamese partner in more than a year. Mostof its scenes were shot in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City and Malaysia’s KlangValley.
According to its producer Wendy Wong, Moonlight Saigon is alove story depicting Vietnamese and Malaysian cultures and aiming to fosterbilateral relations of the countries.
She said the film-making process encountered variousdifficulties but good collaboration between the sides led to a successfuloutcome.
At the press conference, Malaysian Deputy Minister ofCommunications and Multimedia Eddin Syazlee Shith praised the cooperation,saying it will help communications and entertainment companies of the twocountries expand their joint projects.
He said he expects the cooperation with Vietnam to lay the groundfor similar activities with other ASEAN member states.
Tran Minh Hoan, chief representative of Vietnam Airlines inKuala Lumpur, said the Vietnamese carrier is proud to play a part in theproject in contribution to the growth of Vietnam – Malaysia ties. VietnamAirlines sponsored the film crew’s costs of travelling and equipmenttransportation.
Moonlight Saigon is scheduled to be screened on the Malaysiannational television’s TV2 channel in October at 7pm (local time) from Monday toFriday.-VNA
