— Visitors to the central coastalcity of Da Nang this New Year will find themselves immersed in a celebratoryatmosphere, as the city is planning many festive activities.

Specifically, renowned resort Ba Na Hills is celebrating the Winter festivalwith the theme Sac Dong (Winter Colours), which will go on until the end ofDecember. The event offers many colorful performances of art forms includingcircus acts, rollerblading and dancing.

Meanwhile, Da Nang Museum and Marble Mountains Tourist Areawill welcome the first visitors of 2018 to these destinations on the first dayof the New Year.

Other popular tourist attractions within the city are alsopreparing to welcome their first New Year visitors through various activitiessuch as renovating their structures, preparing welcome banners, ensuringenvironmental sanitation and safety and offering attractive promotionprogrammes.

According to Da Nang’s tourism authority, the number ofvisitors to the city during the New Year 2018 is expected to reach nearly143,000, an increase by 17.9 percent in comparison with the same period of2017, among which, international visitors are estimated to reach over 81,000,increasing by 16.2 percent, while the domestic ones are estimated to reach over61,000, increasing by 12 percent.

Tourists to the coastal city this festive occasion will alsohave the chance to travel via some new air routes such as Incheon-Da Nang, HongKong-Da Nang, Busan-Da Nang and Deagu-Da Nang or Osaka-Da Nang, operated byVietjet Air, Eastar Jet, Jestar, T’way Air, and Air Busan.

On this occasion, the city’s tourism authority will hold aceremony welcoming the first flight arriving at Da Nang International Airporton New Year day. Meanwhile, a ceremony to receive first four ships arriving atTien Sa Port will be organised on January 1, 2018.

A "Welcoming New Year 2018" programme is takingplace in the ancient town of Hoi An in the neighbouring province of Quang Namfrom December 24 to January 2 to promote local tourism among domestic andinternational tourists.

The event includes a variety of exciting activities organisedin An Hoi Garden of Statues such as night traditional arts performance andcuisine showcase, a photo exhibition featuring photos of Quang Nam’s tourism byboth professional and unprofessional photographers nationwide, a dancingfestival entitled "Spring Dances" featuring performances by localhigh school students and a musical night with many local jazz bands.

Other highlights of the programme are the re-appearance of HoiAn town in the early 20th century, the ceremony of honouring the travel agentwho has brought the most tourists to the town, a flash mob performance and alucky lottery, which will all be celebrated on December 31.

Besides, a ceremony to welcome the first group of tourists toHoi An will take place at Chua Cau (Bridge Pagoda) on January 1.

According to Nguyen Van Son, Vice Director of the localPeople’s Committee, the festive event is expected to leave an unforgettableimpression on tourists arriving in the town for the New Year.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
