Hanoi (VNA) – Delegates attending the ongoing 12th National Party Congress have underlined the need to choose a new leadership who have both talent and virtue to steer Vietnam along the course of industrialisation and modernisation.

The Party Central Committee for the 12th tenure will have 180 official members, an increase from the past tenure, and 20 alternate ones.

On the sidelines of the plenary session discussing personnel work on January 23, Secretary of the Vinh Long provincial Party Committee Tran Van Ron said more attention should be paid to personnel quality, adding that the increase of the number of Committee members responds to the reality when political and economic development tasks have become more burdensome.

Delegate Ngo Duy Hieu from Hanoi said he will vote for candidates who are loyal to the Party and people, dedicated to the country and at the same time have a venturesome spirit.

In the current situation, the Party and the nation need officials who have strategic vision and are ready to act, he said.

Hoang Van Toan from the northern province of Vinh Phuc, for his part, said people nationwide expect the improved quality of officials at all levels, especially at the central level.

Delegate Nguyen Thi Thanh from the northern province of Ninh Binh said the number of the Committee members is rational, ensuring the inheritance and development of the committee when there are both old and new candidates.

Dang Quoc Vinh from the central province of Ha Tinh expressed his satisfaction with the thorough and long-time personnel preparations for the Congress, saying that it will be a success and open up a new period of development.

Delegate Ha Sy Tiep from Bac Ninh northern province said he will think hard to make the right votes for worthy candidates, who will contribute to national development in the next period.-VNA
