Hanoi (VNA) – The documents presented to the 12th National Party Congress were the focus of discussions on the morning of January 23, which was chaired by Politburo member and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, on behalf of the presidium.

Representatives from 12 delegations contributed ideas to the draft documents of the Congress, including the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the Foreign Ministry, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, Lam Dong province’s Party Committee, the Vietnam Farmers’ Union, Tra Vinh province’s Party Committee, the Vietnam Women’s Union, the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Thua Thien-Hue province’s Party Committee, and the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

As of the Congress’s third working day, there have been 34 ideas on the draft documents made during plenary discussions and 686 ideas made during group discussions held in an ebullient, straightforward and democratic manner.

Vo Van Thuong, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and member of the Secretariat, announced that thirty more messages of congratulations had been sent to the 12th National Party Congress from foreign political parties, organisations and international friends, bringing the number of messages to 200 so far.

On behalf of the Presidium and the entire Congress, Politburo member and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung thanked the political parties, international organisations and friends for sending congratulatory messages to the 12th National Party Congress.

In the afternoon, the Congress had a plenary working session on personnel work for the 12th Party Central Committee under the chair of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who is also President of the Presidium.

On behalf of the Presidium, Politburo member To Huy Rua, who is Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of its Organisation Commission, read out the 11th Party Central Committee’s report on personnel work for the 12th Party Central Committee.

The Congress discussed and voted on the number of 12 th Party Central Committee members. Therefore, the 12th Party Central Committee will have 200 members, including 180 official members and 20 alternate members.

After the plenary session, delegates continued the discussion in groups, on the criterion and structure of the 12th Party Central Committee.-VNA
