HCM City (VNA) - Christmas Eve music and other performances in Ho Chi Minh City on December 24 night, which will feature some big names, promise to provide something for everyone.
A large, open-air show organised by the Youth Cultural House will open at 8pm in District 1's Pham Ngoc Thach Street. The concert, Welcome 2015, will be directed by Hong Phuc and his young crew, including musicians Pham Hong Phuoc and Nguyen Dinh Thanh Tam. It will feature more than 100 singers and theatre artists, including pop stars Phuong Thanh and Dinh Huong, pop bands and dance groups like VietMax, MTV and Hoang Thong.
A fashion show and a fashion fair at the house will take place on December 25, displaying the latest collections by young designers from the city's Fine Arts University and local fashion companies. The free events are expected to attract more than 20,000 people.
Dam Sen Park's music and theatre festival, Sounds of Colour, which will run from December 24 through New Year's Eve, features popular cai luong (reformed theatre) stars, dancers and comedians. A dance show of more than 70 dancers, who perform in the traditional clothes of Vietnam, India, Thailand, Brazil and other countries, will begin at 8pm on New Year's Eve.
The White Snow Castle, an ice sculpture festival which has beautiful architectural wonders carved in ice, opened at the Suoi Tien Tourist Park this week. Thousands of bulbs create a blaze of colours, dazzling thousands of children and their parents who visit the park every night. The event will continue into the New Year.
Dozens of Vietnamese and foreign singers and DJs, including Dutch DJ and singer Tenishia and Susana, will participate in a special concert in District 7's Phu My Hung Urban Area.
The Countdown Party 2016-Journey to Wonderland will begin at 4pm until late night at the Semicircle Lake Park.
A new album featuring Jolly songs at bookstores is a good choice for people, who want to stay at home and escape from the noisy festivities. Wish You A Merry Christmas & Happy New Year features 12 songs about love and people composed and remixed by popular artists, such as Duong Thu, Anh Quan and Huy Tuan. The CD is produced by Young Hit Young Beat, a music training project aimed to encourage young singers and musicians launched by diva My Linh, in co-operation with the band Anh Em led by her husband, music producer Anh Quan.
A firework displays will take place in District 2 and 11.
The city Young People's Association and Women's Association will have hundreds of students from universities dressed in traditional red and white costumes giving away gifts and food to poor and homeless children around the city.-VNA
