Da Nang fireworks festival tells legends of bridges

Da Nang (VNA) – The Da Nang International FireworksFestival (DIFF) 2018, themed “The Legends of Bridges”, kicked off on the banksof the Han River in the evening of April 30.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Chairman of thePeople’s Committee of Da Nang city Huynh Duc Tho said the DIFF is a pride of DaNang. It has helped bring the city closer to people in Vietnam and othercountries and created an image of a young and dynamic city that always movesforwards, he said.

With the theme “The Legends of Bridges”,participating teams will introduce their homelands’ history, culture andmiracles through fireworks, he noted, adding that bridges are the symbol ofconnectivity, connecting Da Nang with friends in the five continents and withthe future.

Teams Da Nang of Vietnam and Surex FirmaRodzinna of Poland were the first to show their fireworks in the festival onApril 30.

Local people and visitors will have a chance toenjoy magnificent fireworks displays of teams from France and the US on May 26,Italy and Hong Kong (China) on June 2, and Sweden and Portugal on June 9. Thebest two teams will perform in the finale on June 30.

Apart from the overall theme “The Legend ofBridges”, each of the fireworks nights also takes its own theme, namely Love,Time, Happiness, Desire, and Friendship.

The festival, first held in 2008, will alsoinclude a carnival with 12 floats representing 12 bridges of Da Nang andartists from the participating nations and territory, a culinary programmeoffering hundreds of typical dishes from nationwide, along with many otheractivities.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
