HCM City (VNA) – A Culture Festival of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups tookplace at Hoang Van Thu Park in Ho Chi Minh City on April 22, aiming to honourthe groups’ cultural values.
Ho Tan Dat, Vice President of theHo Chi Minh City Youth Federation – the festival’s organizer - said that theevent looked to inspire local youths’ national pride and responsibility formaintaining and promoting the cultural identity and strengthening the nationalgreat unity.
This was also a chance for youngpeople of the ethnic groups to join in exchanges, he added.
The event attracted the participationof nearly 1,000 young people of different ethnic groups who are living andlearning in the city in art performances and an online contest on history andcultures of Vietnam’s ethnic groups.
An exhibition showcasing traditionalmusic instruments was held within the framework of the festival, together withfolk games and a cuisine festival.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi MinhCity Youth Federation complimented 40 outstanding ethnic minority youths, andpresented scholarships worth 2 million VND (88 USD) each to 33 poor ethnicminority students with good study achievements.-VNA
