Hanoi (VNA) – A ceremony to see off a Vietnamesesport delegation to the Asian Games 2018 (ASIAD 2018) took place in Hanoi on August 9.

Deputy head of the Vietnam Sports Administration Tran DucPhan, head of the delegation, said the delegation comprises 523 members,including 12 doctors, 24 experts, 81 coaches, six interpreters and 352athletes.

They will compete in track and field, shooting,weightlifting, karate, taekwondo, pencak silat, wushu, bicycling, fencing,archery, men and women’s football events.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Culture, Sports andTourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien expressed his wish that the athletes will do theirbest to bring glory to the nation.

The ASIAD 2018 will be heldin the two major Indonesian cities - Jakarta and Palembang - from August 18 toSeptember 2.

At the previous ASIAD in 2014, Vietnam won onegold, 10 silver and 25 bronze medals, ranking 21st in the overall medal tally.

Vietnam targets at leastthree gold medals at this year’s event.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi
