The performance will open with the classical ballet Serenade choreographedby George Balanchine to Tchaikovsky’s music.
It will be staged at the Opera House by French dancer Chloé Glemot, who wastrained at the Paris Opera Ballet School between 1996 and 2003.
Glemot worked as a professional dancer for the American Ballet Theater in NewYork, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal and English National Ballet inLondon.
In 2006, she completed teacher training at the National Dance Centre in Paris,and has taught ballet for children and adults at conservatories and schools inParis.
French choreographer Julien Guerin’s contemporary ballet Dépaysement willcontinue the night.
The work, which Guerin created for HBSO’s artists, is based on the musicof Chopin, Satie, Faure, Beethoven, Albioni and Giazotto.
It describes a spiritual journey of a young woman who has a dream of sharingher feelings with other people.
It will feature dancers Tran Hoang Yen, Ho Phi Diep and Glemot.
Guerin began studying dance at the La Rochelle Conservatory in France when hewas nine years old, and completed training at the National SuperiorConservatory of Paris for Music and Dance.
After earning a degree as a ballet teacher from National Dance Centre in Parisin 2005, he joined several ballets, including the English National Ballet andthe Ballet of the National Opera of Bordeaux.
He has created and choreographed ballets such as Somina Vertigo and BeaudelaireansSouls.
The performance will end with ballet Ravel’s Bolero choreographedby Maurice Béjart Ravel and staged by Glemot.
The dance will feature solo artist Sung A Lung, who won the Gold Medal in the2016 National Young Talent Competition with his original dance Ru Dem (NightLullaby), and 20 male dancers.
Ballet with Tchaikovsky and Ravel was presented at the Opera Houselast August and received a warm welcome from local and foreign audiences.
