‘Balade en France’ brings visitors on journey to France

A series of activities honouring French cuisine and culture will be held during the ‘Balade en France’ (Walk in France), which will begin on December 14 night in Hanoi.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - A series of activities honouring French cuisineand culture will be held during the ‘Balade en France’ (Walk in France), whichwill begin on December 14 night in Hanoi.

Taking place at Ly Thai To Square on Dinh Tien Hoang street and by Hoan KiemLake, the three-day event is being held in the capital for the first time,after nine consecutive years in Ho Chi Minh City.

‘Balade en France 2018’, organised by the French Embassy in Vietnam, the FrenchMinistry of Agriculture and Food and the People’s Committee of Hanoi, is aconcluding event of celebrations for the 45th anniversary of diplomaticrelations between France and Vietnam.

Aiming to presentspecialties, culinary masterpieces, cultural and entertaining Frenchactivities, ‘Balade en France’ aims to bring visitors surprising andinteresting experiences.

According to French Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary, through various activities,including music and art performances and language challenges, ‘Balade enFrance’ is a cultural bridge linking France and Vietnam.

“The extensive and diversified programme of the ‘Balade en France 2018’ willtake visitors on a journey to France. Vietnamese people can ‘travel’ to Francewhile they are still right here in Hanoi,” he said.

The event will begin with a lighting ceremony of a 6m-tall Christmas tree madeof recycled plastic bottles, while the site of the event will be set up like aParisian street during Christmas time lined with shops and decorated withsparkling lights.

Visitors will be able to enjoy French dishes offered by French restaurants inHanoi, as well as cosmetics and technological products presented at 60 boothsby French companies.

The event also features an extensive music programme with performances ofFrench music group La Bella et la Bete, DJ Ouissam Mokretar and singer KenijahDavid.

Vietnamese singers My Linh, Dong Lan, Trang Phap, will also stir up a festiveatmosphere.

A highlight of the event is sure to be a performance by Vietnamese undergroundband Da LAB, who will present a rap piece they created to celebrate theanniversary of the diplomatic ties.

The festival will also include a workshop on theatre guided by French artist,director and actor-improviser Quentin Delorme.

A photo exhibition entitled France and I will display photos taken by formerstudents in France and Francophiles, while screenings of animation moviescompeting at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival will also be held.-VNS/VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day
