Bac Ninh hosts Fun Run in response to ASIAD 18

The northern province of Bac Ninh hosted a run on March 11 in response to the Asian Games 18 (ASIAD 18), attracting more than 3,000 participants.

Bac Ninh (VNA) – Thenorthern province of Bac Ninh hosted a run on March 11 in response to the AsianGames 18 (ASIAD 18), attracting more than 3,000 participants.

The Olympic Council of Asia isorganising a series of Fun Runs around the continent to promote the 18th Asian Games in 2018.  

The Fun Run in Bac Ninh recordedthe largest number of participants among similar events in other countries.

Numerous activities were alsoheld to raise local awareness about ASIAD and stimulate the sport spirit amongresidents.

Also on the day, the VietnamOlympic Committee organized a press conference to announce activities relatedto the Fun Run.

Representatives from the OlympicCouncil of Asia appreciated the event in Vietnam and said they expected Vietnamwould gain good achievements at the 18th ASIAD in Indonesia,considering the excited atmosphere at the Fun Run.

More than 200 Vietnameseathletes will take part in the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 to be held in Indonesiain August, according to the National Sports Administration (NSA).

They aim to bring home fromthree to five gold medals in key sports, such as athletics, swimming,weightlifting, shooting and gymnastics.

Vietnam will compete in 20 ofthe 40 sports in ASIAD, including football, karate, wushu and pencak silat.

NSA said it invited 15 foreignexperts to the country to guide and train Vietnamese players who have a chanceof winning gold medals.

In the ASIAD Games in Incheon, the Republic of Korea,in 2014, Vietnam won one gold, 10 silver medals and 25 bronze medals to rank21. The country’s best result so far has been four golds at the Busan Games in2002.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

More than 70,000 women from across the capital city of Hanoi dressed up in Ao dai (traditional long dress) and participated in a folk dance ensemble on October 20 to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi and the 94th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union.

The Vietnam Jungle Marathon (VJM) returns for its seventh edition, welcoming around 1,500 runners from almost 40 nations to the stunning trails of Pu Luong Nature Reserve in Thanh Hoa province on October 19, featuring picturesque 10km to 70km routes.

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
