HCM City (VNS/VNA) – International and Vietnamese artists are performingin “A Night of Beethoven” concert at the HCM City Opera House on August 3 tomark the 58th anniversary of the Day for AO/dioxin Victims on August 10.

The concert isco-organised by the HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) and theVietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA).

The highlight of theconcert will be Beethoven’s Triple Concerto for violin, cello andpiano.

The performance willfeature cellist Emma Savouret and violinist Nguyen Huu Nguyen from theOrchestre National de France (French National Symphony Orchestra), and pianistHo Dac Thuy Hoang from HBSO.

The soloistswill perform with the HBSO Chamber Orchestra.

The concert willinclude traditional Japanese works performed by the four-member RyukoMirai Drum Ensemble and vocalist Tetsu Kitagawa.

The night will endwith the symphonic poem Thanh Dong To Quoc written by latecomposer Hoang Van in 1960 when he graduated from the Central Conservatory ofMusic in Beijing. The work will be performed by the HBSO ChamberOrchestra.

Van was awarded the HoChi Minh Award in Literature and Arts in 2000.

Conductor Le Phi Phi,who has returned from Macedonia, will lead the concert.

Phi, who graduatedfrom the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 1993, was the principal conductorof the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra until 2000.

He was the residentconductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the city of Nis, Serbia from 2007to 2012. He has toured in Macedonia, Russia, France, Germany, Italy,Greece, Sweden, Albania and Bulgaria, and is currently teaching at theMacedonian Centre of Opera and Ballet.— VNS/VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

More than 70,000 women from across the capital city of Hanoi dressed up in Ao dai (traditional long dress) and participated in a folk dance ensemble on October 20 to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi and the 94th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union.

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
