Some 30 art performances will be held across Hanoi to herald 61 years of the capital’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954).
Art troupes from the city and vicinities are expected to bring an exciting atmosphere for the city dwellers through music and circus shows, including folk singing such as “cheo” (traditional opera), “tuong” (classical drama), “cai luong” (reformed theatre), and “quan ho” (love duet).
Organised by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, the programme is to praise the Party and the late President Ho Chi Minh as well as the love for the thousand-year-old capital city.
On October 10, 1954, Hanoians with flags and flowers in hand flooded the streets of the city to welcome Vietnamese soldiers who had just returned to the capital after the victory over the French troops at the Dien Bien Phu battle field.-VNA
