APPF-26: Vietnam, Russia strengthen law-making experience exchange

Hanoi (VNA) – Head of the National Assembly’sCommittee for External Relations Nguyen Van Giau has stated that Vietnamconsistently values and prioritises the comprehensive strategic partnershipwith Russia.

During a reception in Hanoi on January 18 for Chairman ofthe Committee on International Affairs of Russia’s Federation Council KosachevKonstantin Iosifovich, Giau thanked the Russian parliament for sending ahigh-ranking delegation to Hanoi to attend the 26th Annual Meetingof the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26), thus contributing to thesuccess of the event.

Speaking highly of mutual support in multilateral forums, especiallyin the United Nations, Giau asked the Russian parliament to provide necessarylegal assistance for the signing of a food safety control agreement, making iteasier for Vietnamese firms to export farm and aquatic produce to Russia.  

The Vietnamese NA always supports and actively joinsparliamentary cooperation activities hosted by Russia, he said, adding that hehopes the two legislatures will continue working closely together withinbilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation framework.

Iosifovich, for his part, lauded Vietnam as a responsible,active and proactive member in inter-parliamentary forums, and voice his beliefin the success of the APPF-26.

He expressed wish that the legislative bodies of Vietnam andRussia will facilitate the exchange of visits by their committees and parliamentariansto share law-making experience, coordinate in overseeing the implementation ofsigned agreements and support cooperation between the two countries’ governmentsand localities for practical benefits of the two peoples.-VNA
