Hanoi (VNA) – Russia has always been one of the priorities in Vietnam’s externalaffairs, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told Russian Ambassador to Vietnam KonstantinVasilievich Vnukov at a meeting in Hanoi on November 29.
Discussingissues on promoting bilateral relations, PM Phuc said there is huge room forVietnam – Russia cooperation, stressing that the two Governments need to pushtheir own ministries and agencies to carry out reached agreements for the bestoutcome.
He agreedwith the Russian Ambassador’s view that the two sides should promotecooperation in agriculture and seafood, and called on the two sides to enhancethe effectiveness of the Vietnam – Russia Intergovernmental CooperationCommittee, contributing to the friendship and cooperative ties between the twonations.
The PMasked the Russian side to facilitate Vietnam’s investment projects in Russiaand accelerate the pace of certain cooperation projects.
Heaffirmed that the Vietnamese Government will create optimal condition forRussian citizens to work in the Vietnam-Russia Oil and Gas jointventure Vietsovpetro and other projects in Vietnam.
Heextended thanks to Russia for providing assistance to Vietnamese floodvictims,.
For hispart, the Russian Ambassador showed his impression of Vietnam’s celebration ofthe 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution, which he described asthe most solemn in a foreign country.
Hecongratulated Vietnam on the success of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in DaNang, noting that 2017 is also a special year in the two nations’ relationswith high-level delegation exchanges, including President Tran Dai Quang’sofficial visit to Russia and President Vladimir Putin’s attendance of the APECEconomic Leaders’ Week in Vietnam.
Russiahas sent the list of priority items in bilateral cooperation agenda toVietnam’s Foreign Ministry, he said, adding that he hopes Vietnam’s delegationswill attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) and severalsimilar events in Russia, as they present opportunities to strengthen thecooperation between the two nations.
Theambassador proposed some specific areas for future cooperation, including agriculture.
PM Phucwelcomed the proposals, affirming that he will instruct relevant ministries andsectors to implement them.-VNA
