DaNang (VNA) – APEC delegates have applauded Vietnam’s idea of building an APEC Park on the occasion of the APEC Economic Leaders' Week when visiting the park located near the Han River in the central city of Da Nang.
“The APEC Park is a very good idea,” said AndiDirgahayu Yudyachandra, a delegate from Indonesia. This kind of park was alsobuilt in Manila during the APEC year in the Philippines.
People come here and they can understand more about the culture of eacheconomy, he said.
He said he is impressed the most with Indonesia’ssculpture. It’s the idea of the Indonesian leader to contribute a sculpture madeof aluminum which shows the characteristics of Indonesia.
Echoing the Indonesian delegate, Konstantin V.Vnukov from Russia said it is a good idea to create the park in one of the mostbeautiful cities in Vietnam and to invite members of APEC to present something,some kind of culture and meaningful things to this park.
“When we received the invitation, we immediately reacted very positively and wehad several ideas about the monument but one idea is the first man came to theouter space 60 years ago so it reflects one of the ideas of APEC agenda,” hesaid.
This is about technology because Iuri Gagarin he went on a spaceship with hightechnology. It happens 60 years ago but is still very meaningful for themankind to create technology.

Meanwhile, Rimbink Pato Obe, Minister of ForeignAffairs and Trade of Papua New Guinea, host of APEC 2018, said the idea of APEC Park demonstrates the unity of the APEC economiesin economy, trade and investment.
“Trees planted here reflect that we stand together and grow together for theprosperity of our people as we drive our agenda for development, for betterquality of life and for better liberal trade,” he said.
The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week is taking place in Da Nang fromNovember 6-11, drawing around 10,000 delegates from the 21 APEC membereconomies.
Established in 1989, APEC comprises Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China,Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico,New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore,Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US, and Vietnam.
It represents 39 percent of the world population, 57 percent of the world GDPand 47 percent of the total trade.-VNA
