Hanoi (VNA) – Apassion for street food has inspired American actress Corrin Carlsonto become a food blogger giving reviewsabout food, restaurants, travel, and daily life during her three-year stay in Vietnam.
In a recent interview withBBC, Carlson recalled that she first arrived in Hanoi in 2019 at the invitation ofsome of her new friends who teach English in Vietnam.
At that time, she wastraveling around Asia and just intended to spend a few months exploring andexperiencing the life and culture of the S-shaped country.
However, her love forVietnamese food and visits to places across the country made her decide to stayin Vietnam instead of returning to the US, particularly during the outbreak ofthe COVID-19 pandemic.
Through her blog on TikTokand Instagram named Plates of Hanoi (now changed to The Fat Passport), Carlsoncreates content in English to show foreigners and tourists her food-relatingexperiences in Vietnam.
When spending three yearsin Vietnam, Carlson and her friend traveled to the corners of Hanoi to find thebest food in town.

In the video, Carlsonwears a facial mask like a local and talks about how vendors put “pho” in bagsto take home, bringing a new perspective on “pho” that is already familiar toforeigners when served on the street in beautiful bowls and plates.
Thanks to her charming andhumorous way of talking, the American actress received 5 million views and alot of comments from all over the world. She said the video not only gives anew perspective on “pho” but also gives viewers a look at COVID-19 in Vietnamand how people are living.
She said that besidesfamous Vietnamese dishes such as banh mi, bun cha, and coffee, many otherdishes should be known more and her choice is “banh cuon” (a steamed rolledpancake).
Now, when she is no longerin Hanoi, Carlson still misses Hanoi and “banh cuon”, she told BBC.
She said that streetfood in Vietnam offers a lot of choices. It is fresh, takes no time to prepare,and is healthy.
Street food is a greatthing about Vietnam that people don't find in many parts of the world, shesaid, adding that she ate street food at least twice, even three times a daywhile in Vietnam.
Vietnam brings her greatexperiences with its cuisine, thus the food blogger would like to spread herlove for food to everyone and encourage them to try Vietnamese dishes.
