HCM City (VNA) – The ASEAN Football Federation HDBank Futsal Championship 2017officially kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on October 27.
This is also thequalifying round for the 2018 AFC Futsal Championship, choosing four top teamsfor the games. The tournament is a chance for participants to gear up for theWorld Futsal World Cup 2019.
The AFF HDBank FutsalChampionship 2017 draws nine teams from Southeast Asian countries competing in twogroups. The Vietnamese team is in Group A with those from the Philippines,Indonesia, Brunei and Myanmar. Meanwhile, Group B consists of Thailand, Laos,Malaysia and Timor Leste.
Following the openingceremony, the Vietnamese team played with the Philippines. The host team isscheduled to to face with Indonesia, Brunei and Myanmar from October 28-30.
On the occasion, theorganising board handed over 300 million VND to representatives of the VietnamFatherland Front Central Committee to support flood victims in the centralregion.
Earlier on October 26,some first matches of the tournament took place. Notably, Myanmar won Brunei13-0, Thailand won Laos 14-0, and Indonesia won the Philippines 21-0.-VNA
