AFC General Secretary congratulates Vietnam’s U23 team

General Secretary of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dato’ Windsor John sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Le Khanh Hai for Vietnam’s U23 team having gained a berth in the finals of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship, said the AFF.

Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)Dato’ Windsor John sent a congratulatory letter to President of the VietnamFootball Federation (VFF) Le Khanh Hai for Vietnam’s U23 team having gained aberth in the finals of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship, said the AFF.

In hisletter, the AFC General Secretary congratulated the team’s coaches and players,lauding the performance of Vietnam’s U23 squad in the qualifiers.

He voicedhis belief that the young talented generation will continue to write a new pagefor Asian football in the future, as well as extended his wishes for the team.

Vietnambooked a ticket to compete in the 2020 AFC U23 Championship’sfinal as they topped their Group K qualifying round after a perfect record of threewins and 11 goals, while conceding none.

Asidefrom Thailand, who have a place as the hosts, Vietnam are the sole ASEANrepresentatives qualifying for the final.

As the runners-up of the continental football tournament in 2018, Vietnam havebeen placed in the first pot along with defending champions Uzbekistan,third-place winners Qatar, and hosts Thailand.

The 2020 AFC U23 Championship final round’s draw is set to be held in October,while the tournament will take place from January 8- 26, 2020 in Thailand’scapital city of Bangkok and Pathum Thani province.

The best three teams will gain tickets to compete at the 2020 Tokyo OlympicGames in Japan. If hosts Japan are among the winners, the fourth-placed teamwill earn the last Olympic spot. –VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi
