Hanoi (VNA) – The Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU)’s Central Committee on March 13 held a hybrid dialogue themed “Voice of the Youth - Action of the Youth Union” with millions of youth union members in Vietnam and overseas.
High on the agenda was support for youth union members to realise their initiatives and promote digital transformation.
Answering questions about digital transformation, Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee Ngo Van Cuong said that the Youth Union has had many activities to raise awareness and skills relating to digital transformation for young people.
In the coming time, youth union organisations at all levels need to strengthen communications on digital transformation and encourage youth union members to step up digital transformation in production and trade. The youth union needs to enhance training to raise young people’s awareness on digital transformation, especially ethnic minorities in remote areas, he said.
First Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee Bui Quang Huy affirmed that in the process of national digital transformation, young people must be at the forefront. The youth union, therefore, has an important task to create an environment for young people to carry out their mission in the national digital transformation.
Some outstanding youngsters strive to become Party members but cannot until they are 18 years old. Huy said that an important task of the Youth Union is to introduce outstanding union members for the Party to consider admitting. This work always receives special attention from the youth union.
To promote the development of Party membership among students, youth union organisations need to innovate communications, political education, and revolutionary traditions so that students are enlightened about revolutionary ideals.
Huy emphasised the need to have a specific roadmap to identify outstanding students from high school, university, and college levels.
He added that the union proposed outstanding youngsters can be admitted to the Party as early as at the 11th grade.
Meanwhile, the issue relating to the shortage of youth union officials at grassroots levels was also raised at the dialogue.
Responding to questions about measures on training and rotation of youth union officials, Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee Nguyen Tuong Lam said that the HCYU Central Committee always pays much attention to personnel training.
In particular, the Prime Minister has recently approved a project on training youth officials for the 2023-2027 period and Decision No. 489/QD-TTg with many tasks and solutions in personnel training at all levels.
In 2024, the training will include online courses that will help more officials access the training. Lam said that the HCYU Central Committee also promotes cadre training and a cadre rotation policy./.
