Hanoi (VNA) – The World Bank (WB) hasbeen carrying out a project on improving the quality of tertiary education atfour universities in Vietnam, including the Hanoi University of Science andTechnology (HUST), since 2018 to increase their autonomy.
While talking with HUST students in Hanoi onMarch 22, Vice President of the WB Group Human ResourcesOusmane Diagana said the bank will review the project and suggest the Ministryof Education and Training consider expanding it to other universities.
Of the total funding of 155 million USD from thebank, a credit package of 50 million USD was offered for the HUST, including 45million USD in official development assistance (ODA) loan and 5 million USDfrom the university’s corresponding capital.
The sub-project, which is implemented withinfive years (2018-2022), aims to develop the HUST into a leading research andtraining facility in Vietnam in terms of science and technology, he said.
He added that the WB has partnered with Vietnamin providing funds for many education projects as well as share knowledge abouteducation and occupation.-VNA
