Hanoi (VNA) – The vote of confidence on officials holding positionselected or approved by the National Assembly has drawn great public attentionrecently.

Tran Van Tuy, head of the NA Committee for Deputy Affairs and deputyhead of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, said vote ofconfidence is part of the NA and People’s Councils’ supervision role, evaluatingvoters’ trust in officials to serve personnel assessments.

The work aims to strengthen the efficiency of the NA, ensuring the voteof confidence gives a foundation for agencies to make personnel decisions andarranged officials in the most efficient manner, while encouraging officialswith low votes to step down.

Over the years, the practice has proved effective, helping enhance theresponsibility and operational efficiency of officials. Many officialsreceiving low votes have worked harder to improve.

Under the Article 18 of the Law on Supervisory Activities of NA andPeople’s Councils 2015, NA deputies  castvotes of confidence on the President, Vice President, NA Chairperson, NA ViceChairperson, members of the NA Standing Committee, heads of the NA EthnicCouncil and NA Committees, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers,Ministers and heads of ministerial-level agencies, the Chief Judge of theSupreme People’s Court, the head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, and theState Auditor General.

The total number of officials under scrutiny is 50.

However, officials in office for under nine months will not be includedin the list. Therefore, the President and the Minister of Information andCommunications, which will be elected and approved in the sixth session, willbe excluded from the vote.

Tuy expressed his belief that NA deputies will show fairness andlucidity in their voting.-VNA
