Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s international connectivity will be improved oncethe Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT)’s internet service viathe Asia-Africa-Europe-1 (AAE-1) is offered in July.
The AAE-1 is the fifth international cable system that VNPT has been a part ofconstructing. The system will enhance the country’s internet bandwidth and easeburden on submarine fiber optic cables.
The AAE-1 is a 25,000 kilometre consortium cable system connecting SoutheastAsia to Europe via Egypt. It connects Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailandwith Malaysia and Singapore then onwards to Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Oman, theUnited Arab Emirates, Qatar, Yemen, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece,Italy and France.
The cable system deploys state-of-the-art 100 Gbps transmission technology withminimum design capacity of 40 Tbps.
The AAE-1’s construction began in 2014 by prominent global service providers,including British Telecom (Britain), China Unicom (China), Chuan Wei(Cambodia), Omantel (Oman), PCCW Global (Hong Kong), VNPT and Viettel (Vietnam).
Vietnam currently operates three undersea cable routes, SMW-3 landing in DaNang, AAG landing in Vung Tau and APG landing in Da Nang.-VNA
