Quang Nam (VNA) - The mountainousdistirct of Nam Tra My in the central province of Quang Nam has launched avirtual reality photo portal to introduce eco-tourism services in the area.
Chairman of the district People’s CommitteeHo Quang Buu said the portal, launched in cooperation with the Institute ofCommunications and Information Technology, would help potential visitorsexplore cultural and tourism services in the district.
It also introduces the rare and expensive NgocLinh and Vietnamese ginseng grown at 2,598m above sea level on the border withKon Tum province.
The mountainous district, 90km southwest ofTam Ky city, is home to 10,000 people belonging to the Ca Dong, Xe Dang and MoNong ethnic minority groups, and features five waterfalls, hot springs, abamboo plantation and a cinnamon forest.
The district hosts a monthly Ngoc Linhginseng fair on the first day of every month as well as cuisine and culturalexchanges for visitors and local ethnic minority groups.
The ginseng fair aims to provide a meetingpoint for tourists, investors, traders and local growers.
Ngoc Linh ginseng, grown both in Nam Tra Mydistrict in Quang Nam province and the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum,has been designated a national brand.
Nam Tra My district has introduced aGeographical Indication (GI) for ‘Ngoc Linh’ ginseng products from sevenvillages and communes.
Ngoc Linh ginseng has been named as anendangered flora, along with pepper, cinnamon and white maize as part of QuangNam’s conservation programme for 2014-20.
More than 200kg of ginseng root were soldat the first Ngoc Linh Ginseng fair in the district last year for 553,000 USD.
