Pretoria (VNA) – A delegation from the National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations led by its deputy head Ngo Duc Manh paid a working visit to Mozambique from December 10-13 to seek specific measures to boost cooperation between the two legislative bodies and nations.

In Maputo, the delegation was received by first Deputy Speaker of the Mozambican Assembly Antonio Amelia, held talks with head of its Commission on International Relations Maria Inês, and had working sessions with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Nyeleti Mondlane and head of the Liberation Front’s International Relations Committee Aida Libombo.

During the meetings, both sides informed each other of their respective country’s socio-economic development, and exchanged information about the operations, tasks and roles of the two legislative bodies in national development and in supervising the implementation of foreign policies.

Mozambican officials said they are impressed with Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, especially in poverty reduction.

Deputy Speaker Antonio Amelia expressed his hope that Vietnam will continue to share experience regarding maintaining peace and socio-political stability, building national unity and developing the economy.

Meanwhile, Maria Inês said she believes in the potential for bilateral cooperation in minerals, oil and gas, processing and fisheries.

Manh stated that this was the first working visit paid by a Vietnamese NA delegation to Mozambique, showing Vietnam's goodwill and determination to enhance cooperation with the country.

The two sides also agreed to intensify meetings between NA members in the two countries and at inter-parliamentary forums.

Mozambique announced that Parliament Speaker Veronica Macamo plans to pay an official visit to Vietnam in the first six months of 2016, and the Commission on International Relations will also send delegations to Vietnam to discuss a cooperation agreement between the legislative bodies.-VNA
