Vietnam, US sign cooperation agreements

– President Tran Dai Quang and President Donald Trumpwitnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between Vietnam and the USafter their talks in Hanoi on November 12.

A contract on the selection of aircraft engines and support services ​and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the maintenance of aircraft engineswere sealed between Vietnam Airlines and Pratt & Whitney aerospacemanufacturer.

The PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PVGas) struck a MoU on the Son My natural liquefied petroleum gas warehouse withthe AES Group Ltd., and another MoU on cooperation with the Alaska GaslineDevelopment Corporation in natural liquefied petroleum gas provision andupstream investment.

Vietjet Air and Pratt & Whitney signed acontract on purchasing and maintaining aircraft engines, whilst Hoang Huy andNavistar groups inked a MoU on trade of trucks.

Trump’s first visit to Vietnam from November11-12 is taking place at a time when the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnershipis progressing, especially after the US visit by Prime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc in May 2017. 

Vietnam and the US established diplomatic tieson July 12, 1995. Positive strides have been recorded in bilateralrelations in all spheres since the countries established a comprehensivepartnership in July 2013 on the basis of respecting each other’s territorialintegrity, political regime and development path, for the sake of their owninterests and for regional peace, stability and development cooperation.

Since 2005, the US has become one of the leadingtrade partners of Vietnam, with two-way trade rising 20 percent in recentyears.-VNA
