Singapore (VNA) – Vietnam wants to learn from Singapore’s experience indeveloping the intellectual property (IP) system in order to make IP aneffective tool supporting technology development and boosting socio-economicdevelopment.
VietnameseMinister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh made the statement at hismeeting with Indranee Thurai Rajah, Senior Minister of State for Law andFinance of Singapore’s Ministry of Law, on November 28 within the framework ofthe official visit to Singapore of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi KimNgan.
TheMinistry of Science and Technology is building a National Strategy onIntellectual Property to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval in2018, Anh said.
Rajahagreed on the Vietnamese minister’s proposals, affirming that Vietnam alwaysreceives Singapore’s priority and attention due to its diversity in businessand investment activities.
Atthe meeting, both sides witnessed the signing of a cooperation plan for 2018between the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam and theIntellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).
Earlier,Minister Anh had a working session with representatives from Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), during which heasked the A*STAR to consider the signing of a legal document to serve as afoundation to carry out international research cooperation programmes.-VNA
