Vietnam remains world’s second largest shoe exporter

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has earned over 2.8 billion USD from exportingshoes since the beginning of 2018, thus maintaining the second position in theworld in terms of shoes export.

According to the 2017 statistics of the World FootwearMagazine, Vietnam ranked second among the top 10 largest footwear exporters forthe third consecutive year in 2017, with 1.02 billion pairs of shoes,equivalent to 7.4 percent of the global footwear supply.

China continued to be the top exporter, with 9.31 billionpairs.

The Vietnam Customs Office said that the country’s shoeexport turnover has increased over the years, from 8.4 billion USD in 2013 to14.65 billion USD in 2017 – a year-on-year rise of 12.3 percent.

Of the total, 11.78 billion USD, or more than 80 percent,was generated by foreign-invested enterprises.

Last year, a total of 863 enterprises shipped their footwearproducts abroad, up 15 percent year-on-year.

The US was the largest market of Vietnamese footwear, buyingmore than 5.1 billion USD in 2017. With 1.14 billion USD, China was the secondlargest importer of Vietnamese shoes. It was followed by Germany (992.6 millionUSD).
