Vietnam records highest daily number of COVID-19 infections in six months

Vietnam recorded 3,399 new COVID-19 cases on May 5, the highest daily number over the past six months, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded3,399 new COVID-19 cases on May 5, the highest daily number over the past sixmonths, according to the Ministry of Health.

The new cases brought the total number ofCOVID-19 infections in the country since the pandemic broke out to 11,571,127.

The same day, 997 patients were giventhe all-clear from coronavirus, lifting the number of recoveries to 10,625,838.

Meanwhile, the death toll was still keptat 43,195, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections, as nofatality was reported on the day.

As many as 15,550 doses of COVID-19vaccines were injected to people on May 4, raising the total number ofadministered doses to almost 266.27 million./.
