HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City always creates good conditionsfor the Vietnam National University (VNU), Ho Chi Minh City and the Universityof California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to cooperate in post-graduate training andmedicine research.
Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu made the statementat a reception on September 12 for UCLA vice chancellor Scott Waugh. Waugh isattending the third International Conference on Innovations in Cancer Researchand Regenerative Medicine held by the VNU, HCM City and UCLA in Ho Chi MinhCity.
Thu lauded the cooperation between the two universities, particularly inmolecular structure study and the establishment of Centre for Molecular andNano Architecture (MANAR) in the VNU, HCM City in 2011. She expressed her hopethat UCLA will continue to strengthen collaboration with HCM City in researchand training.
Meanwhile, vice chancellor Waugh said that cooperation between the twouniversities has brought practical benefits to both sides and to relationsbetween Vietnam and the US.
Established in 1919, UCLA is one of the world’s leading scientific researchuniversities. The university has worked with the VNU and HCM City to carry out molecularbiology research, biochemistry and cancer research.
MANAR was set up by both universities to promote research on the structure andsize of molecules and nanoparticles, the application of advanced technology inbasic research and innovation in material production for green technology.-VNA
