Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Vietnam and Malaysia haveeffectively cooperated in many fields in recent years, said VietnameseAmbassador to Malaysia Le Quy Quynh in an inclusive interview with Bernama.
The Malaysian national news agency quoted the diplomat, whowill end his tenure on October 8, as saying “Bilateral trade turnover is closeto 15 billion USD a year. The people-to-people relations between the twocountries are also very encouraging. More and more tourists from both countriesare visiting each other.”
Quynh said the two countries have a long-standing friendshipwith excellent cooperation in many areas since the establishment of diplomaticrelations on March 30, 1973. Since then, the ties have flourished, especiallyafter being advanced to a strategic partnership in 2015.
“I believe that with the great foundation of our StrategicPartnership, the relations between the two countries will continue to prosperin the future,” said Quynh.
He noted that 2020 is an important milestone for bothcountries as Vietnam has assumed the dual role of the rotating Chair of ASEANand a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, whileMalaysia is the Chair of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.
“The two countries, together with other member nations ofASEAN, have made efforts to build a united community contributing to peace,stability, and prosperity in the region and the world,” he added.
The diplomat said Vietnam will continue to create conduciveconditions for Malaysian businesses and investors to work in the country andthat the two sides will continue to promote cooperation in the fields of foodtechnology and car manufacturing.
He stated Vietnam is ready to work with Malaysia in thefields of supporting industries, smart city construction, high-techagriculture, and other fields of Malaysian strength.
“I hope that the Malaysian government will continue tofacilitate connecting the delegations of Vietnam to visit, learn and exchangeexperiences in areas where Malaysia has the strength namely urban planning,economic development; and on the contrary, Vietnam will create the same(conducive) conditions for the Malaysian delegations,” he added./.
