Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam istaking full advantage of the second DPRK-USA Summit in Hanoi to promote its tourismas the whole world is paying special attention to the event and the hostcountry, said a tourism official.
The second DPRK-USA Summit is an internationalevent of global concern and thousands of reporters from many news and pressagencies around the world have come to Hanoi to cover the meeting and they haveseen with their own eyes the city’s beauty and attractions, Ha Van Sieu, DeputyGeneral Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), toldthe Vietnam News Agency (VNA).
The successful hosting of the summit willhelp Vietnam raise its position and prestige in the world arena, and gain moresentiments from foreigners, thereby attracting more international tourists, eventhose who have not known much about Vietnam, and encouraging them to spend moreduring their holidays in the country, he said.
Vietnam is also expected to draw more directand indirect investments after the DPRK-USA Summit, Sieu said, adding that increasedinflows of investment and foreign visitors will fuel ideas about new tourismproducts and new tourist destinations.
The official mentioned the idea of turningVietnam into a bridge connecting the world and the Democratic People’s Republicof Korea (DPRK) through tourism since Vietnam has built up its brand as apeaceful and friendly nation and more opportunities are created for Vietnamesebusinesses to invest in the DPRK.
To further popularizeVietnam’s tourism, the VNAT had previously asked culture and tourism establishmentsin the capital city of Hanoi to ensure environmental sanitation, as well ashost and guide international reporters during the two-day summit.
It requestedHanoi and other provinces and cities nationwide to increase their inspectionsof tourism services to ensure the best quality for high-level delegations,international reporters and tourists before, during and after the event.
The VNAT alsoworked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to proactively provide informationabout Vietnam’s tourism through videos, Vietnam Tour Guide e-publication, tourismwebsite www.vietnam.travel, and the ministry’s international press registrationsite www.dprk-usasummit2019.mofa.gov.vn.
The VNAT, in coordination with the Vietnam TourismAssociation (VTA), have hung large billboards introducing free tours forreporters which include the Hanoi city tour and trips to Café Hanoi, Bat Trangceramics village, and UNESCO world heritage site Ha Long Bay in northeasternQuang Ninh province arranged by prestigious travel companies Hanoitourist andSaigontourist.
After thesummit, the VNAT plans to organise a wide range of activities to promoteVietnam’s tourism in the US, Russia, the Republic of Korea and Japan in a bidto lure more holidaymakers to the Southeast Asian nation.
According tothe organizers, almost 3,000 reporters from more than 200 media agencies innearly 40 countries and territories across the world have arrived in Vietnam tocover the summit and they will be able to discover special tourism products andservices both in Hanoi and around the country.-VNA
